How to prove your funds without a sponsor letter mistake

Visa officers are not only checking that the amount is there. They are checking that it has been there long enough, that it arrived from an explainable source, and that whoever owns the account has a reason to fund you.

Start the 28-day clock early. UK rules require the balance to sit unbroken for 28 consecutive days, ending no more than 31 days before you apply. A transfer on day 20 resets nothing on paper but raises a question you will have to answer in writing.

If a relative is sponsoring you, the file needs three things together: their bank statement, a signed declaration of support, and a document proving the relationship. A single affidavit without the other two is the most common gap in the applications we review.

Keep the source visible. Money from land sale, retirement benefit or a business withdrawal is all acceptable, but each needs its own evidence trail. Officers are far more comfortable with a documented lump sum than with an unexplained one.
